Where oh where have my #8s gone, Where oh where can they be? The illusive little buggers have disappeared. Oh why does this happen to me?
I can’t find needles because they are in other projects. I find a pattern I want to use and realize I have something similar started somewhere. I see great yarn and remember great yarn I already have. All 14 tote bags are full and piled in closets and boxes and corners, topped with more projects in Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, grocery store and gift bags.
I’m on project overload. Yet I still want to start more. I don’t have enough cardigans and I want a pink sweater. I need gloves and more socks for winter. I have enough scarves, but there’s that little skein of cashmere I must knit. I’ve designed several sweaters to go with yarn I have that I haven’t begun to knit.
I hereby declare this the Summer of Completion. (OK, for now anyway. I have a short attention span, so who knows how long this will last.) I hate picking up a project mid-way, especially if I’ve borrowed the needles or the pattern book and didn’t leave myself a clue as to where to start because I thought, as in all things, that I’d get right back to it.
If you are a FlyLady fan, you know that Wednesday is anti-procrastination day. Every Wednesday this summer I plan to pull out a project I've stalled on and finish it. This time I pulled out Stripes Go Round (IK, summer 2004) and YEA! finished it yesterday.
I used Lion Brand Microspun which has a different gauge, so I knit the 32 ½" size to get 40". I also knit the sleeves a little longer and did an extra repeat to make to neck higher. If I had to do it over again, I would knit a size smaller. I think it would look better if it were more fitted (it really looks bigger than in the picture). I'd also like the neck to be a little lower. Maybe if I start the decreases sooner?
I knit my Mom a shawl with Sullivans Tickle and Sashay ($2 a skein at Big Lots). I had DD#1 try it out to be sure it was big enough. It was. She wouldn't give it back, so I knit Mom another one. No picture- they were taken away too quickly.
So I leave you with this. Puppies giving DD#2 a tongue bath.
Note to self: Do not leave knitting on sofa or any where else in puppies' reach.
