Woo Hoo! My spring issue of Interweave Knits finally came today. Why does mine always come after everyone else has started knitting something new from theirs? Maybe they know I have 57 projects going and I'm behind on everything else and they think they're doing me a favor...
Every time I get a new knitting mag, I break it in the same way.
1) Open to the middle and flip backward to the front, giving every pattern a quick oggle and reading the first paragraph of every atricle that catches my eye.
2) Turn back to the middle and repeat, flipping to the back this time.
3) Do something quick but noticeable in the house- ie throw everything on the coffee table in a closet, dust the table with a sock that happens to be on the floor, and light a candle- so I appear to have been busy when everyone comes home. I need some alone time with my magazine.
4) Make a cup of tea and find a pen.
5) Starting at the front of the magazine, read articles, circle website addresses to explore, if the pattern directions are in the back I write needle size and gauge by the pictures of patterns I want to knit, and sip tea occasionally if I remember.
6) Totally ignore the 57 projects I've started and start swatching from stash to see if any yarn I have will work with any patterns I like.
7) Start something new.
8) Order more yarn and needles in case what I have doesn't work out.
Time to light a candle...
