Never, never, never go anywhere without your knitting. Do not ever buy small purses that won’t hold a small skein of yarn and dps. Three times last week- count ‘um, three!- I found myself sitting and waiting with no knitting to be had. How could this be you ask? Because I had to go to a tea party, dag nab it, and my orange purse didn’t match my tea party outfit. I’m not much of a tea partier (although I do like tea, which I discovered is not served at tea parties), but it was a mother/daughter thing for DD#2 who is joining a high school sorority. I’m not a sorority person, either. (I made excessive verbal disparagements about them in high school, so was never asked. I sincerely apologize to every sorority member in the world, but don’t get me started.) But this is Alli’s thing, so I’ve decided to try and support her. Anyway, I took my little tea party purse that matches my little tea party shoes thinking I wouldn’t have time to knit anyway. But what do they do? They go outside to take pictures. I balance as well as an egg on end and can’t stand for very long at a time, so I stayed inside WITH NO KNITTING! I could have kicked myself, but again my balance is very bad, so instead I ate the bowl of peanut M&Ms. Yes, the whole bowl.
That’s one. #2 was the Wal-Mart incident described below which I handled very well by buying needles and yarn.
#3 happened Thursday when I still hadn’t changed purses and decided to run an errand before I picked up the girls from school. Who knew I’d be first in line at UPS? I should have known they’d be late getting to the car.
I promise to never, never let this happen again. I went home and started knitting a new purse right away. I kinda used the Sophie pattern, but not really.
It’s not orange so in my opinion will go with everything. And it’s a good thing. I have another tea party to go to. DD#1 who has now dyed her hair blue black, listens to heavy metal, refuses to wear name brands, and enjoys doing things just to shock people, joined another sorority.
This was my first Kureyon project, and I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. I bought the yarn for my secret pal, but decided to keep it because it’s a lot darker than I thought it would be. (Is that wrong?) My hands itched the whole time I was using it, and it’s so soft after felting- too soft I think for a purse. I do love all the color variations in a single skein, and soft is good for sweater knitting.
In Non-Knitting News: I would just like to go on record as saying that just because I occasionally start kitchen fires does not make me a bad cook.
Now I must go check the knitting in my purse to be sure I have enough for the hour I’m about to wait at church while my DDs are in choir, then I get to hear them sing in the evening service.
I just found a new purse on a clearance table a few weeks ago, and I knew I had to have it. Why? It was divided into three zippered sections. The first had two zippered pockets inside, a key fob, and a built-in credit card holder. The third had about five or six little open pockets for random small things, and a built-in unbreakable mirror. The middle (and largest) compartment had....nothing. Perfect for my knitting!
Then the SO sees me take it to the mall with us, and says, is that a purse or a suitcase? The mocking stopped when I managed to fit all of our purchases (two video games and a DVD box set) in the middle section along with my knitting.

I hear you! With me, it's like Murphy's law. When I bring my knitting with me I don't have time to knit. But when I don't bother to bring my work with me I end up bored and without anything to do.

Of course it's not wrong to use the Noro intended for your Secret Pal. You saved her from yarn that was too dark, right? Unless I'm your Secret Pal. And kitchen fires make for some yummy cooking....like toasted marshmallows for somemores.
