A little ice, not enough snow, and oh so cold! My wool Wallaby only gets pulled out when the temperature refuses to rise above freezing. With the wind chill at 5 degrees, today is one of those days. I wish we had a real fireplace, but the gas logs are wonderful, expecially after doing laundry in the unheated laundry room! There's a great question/answer page here if you plan to knit one. They're much cooler- and warmer- than sweatshirts. Someone should do a knit-a-long with this pattern.
I finished a garter stitch hat, gloves, and bow-knot scarf just in time. The set took 2 skeins of Wool-Ease. My grandmother taught me how to knit the gloves when I was very young. I've lost her hand-written pattern, I am very sorry to say, but I figured it out again a couple of years ago using a pair that I knit for my mother when I was in high school. These are so thick and warm, but impossible to knit in.
I still have so many projects from last year to finish up, but when someone asks for something, I have a hard time saying no- especially when it's my husband who has never asked me to knit for him. He wants a scarf (which I immediately started in black Wool-ease so it will be washable as requested), but he also wants a ski-mask type thing- nothing over the face, but with a neck. Anyone know of a pattern? I guess I have until I finish the scarf to figure one out.
I helped DD#2 knit a furry scarf for her friend this weekend.
And I started a bulky knit hat and mitts for a friend, and then there are the baby sweaters for A4A and the hats and scarves for the homeless shelter. What am I doing here? I've gotta go knit!
By the way, did anyone else catch the CSI NY episode 2 weeks ago? A woman was killed by a knitting needle. Looked like a size 17 bamboo to me....
Now come on, be honest, were you really going to knit in your gloves? I know it's cold, well it is here in the south of England so it must be freezing over there! I'd never heard of wallabies before only the furry jumpy type! That could be dangerous suggesting a knitalong. Believe me, I know!!!!!
