A dear friend of my daughters’ died last week, and we’ve all been in a funk. It was the hardest funeral I’ve ever been to. I am extra grateful to my Grandmother for teaching me how to knit and giving me something more productive to do than pacing and ranting.
The girls had a day off, so we went out for Chinese. Here’s my fortune:

So I did. I ran out of yarn (imagine that) for the first scarf I had started for my hubby- the black one, so I started another- the blue one. The black is knit in mistake rib, the blue is the Fluted Banister pattern from the 6 Sox Knitalong.
Kay at Mason-Dixon Knitting has a wonderful new recipe for a felted buttonhole bag. They are so cute, and I needed some cheer, so here’s my unfelted bag: I used 2 strands of Peace Fleece, and plan to add a little somethin’ somethin’ before I felt it. You’ll just have to wait and see. I’m off to the doctor today, an overnite trip this time cause of dreaded tests in the morning. I’ve packed a small overnight bag and two large knitting bags. In case of snow. You never know. I will have at least 4 hours of car knitting time each way, so I packed DD#1’s S&B vest, hubby’s scarf and my plain Jane cream cardi. And I’ll probably throw in a hat or two.
I’m a week behind starting my Hand 2 Hand, but I have knit a swatch hat and my gauge is fine. Actually I didn’t finish the hat because I don’t know if I’ll have enough yarn. If I don’t need it for the sweater, I’ll go back and finish it up later. I've been working on simple, quickie things. I'm anxious to get started on something with a little more bite. I managed to get a few things finished- or at least nearly finished. A couple more hat and scarf sets for the homeless shelter, one hat for Ship Support, and here are a few things for A4Aa: And I just need to sew on the sleeves and put in the zipper to finish this sweater for our sponsor child. The pattern is here. Well it was here. It's a Jean Moss pattern- the Coco Jacket (I added a twisted braid up the sleeves and knit the body in one piece)- a freebee on her old website. I can't find it on the new one. Bummer.
And last but not least, Hanne asked what my Wonderful Wallaby looks like, so here it is:
Sorry to hear 'bout the bad funk. Sending you many wishes of happiness and well-being (to share w/ family, of course). And best of luck with the hospital tests. Hopefully all that knitting will keep your mind occupied.
I can't wait to see what you add to the buttonhole bag. I plan on making one (or two, or five) of these bags sometime in the immediate future.
I really like the two sweaters for AC4C. What patterns are they? (Oh, and thanks for reminding me... I have a bunch of hats that need to go out.)

I'm in the Aran-along too - your gauge swatch looks great! I can't wait to see how the hand 2 hand comes out. I see the concept, but not how to put it all together!
