I go to Walmart. With the rest of the world. But at least I was styling and profiling in my new hat and scarf. (Please excuse the expression- DD#2 was fiddling with the camera. I told her to tell me when. She took the picture and then said when.)
I always go by the yarn section just for the heck of it, and it was almost bare. This fluffy scarf phase is getting out of hand. I had to go by the fabric store for buttons- just buttons- and I had to wait in line (and there were 2 lines) for 20 minutes behind novelty yarn fanatics. Just for buttons. But speaking of novelty yarns... I came home from Wally World to find this in my mailbox:
Actually the flowers were stolen from the house next door. No one lives there so I thought it would be okay. I'm really not a bad person, but please don't tell. The sheep tape measure came in her last package. I love playing with it! I love telling people who don't know what it is to pull it's tail. The yarn is Crystal Palace Squiggle. It is so cool. I'm going to try felting a little piece. If it holds up, I'll use it with a strand of wool to make a fun summer purse. Maybe Sophie. Maybe not. The little book is great, but the more I look and it, the less I want to. I'm going to have to give up my Yogurt Parfait from McDonalds and have a side salad with nuts and mayo to keep my carbs down. Blech. And no more Coconut Shrimp and potato soup from Outback. At least the salmon and veggies are safe. Don't I have the greatest SP? And to think I almost didn't do it this go-round. My SP3 never sent me anything. I know life happens and it's okay (it really is), but it was disappointing.
Now back to yarn. The rest of my day was spent playing with Kool-Aid and wool from Knit Picks. I love the results!
The light green is to use with my Squiggle. The other solids are for a purse for my neice. The multi-colored yarns I did in a casserole dish in the microwave. After soaking the yarn, I sprinked on the Kool-Aid and squoshed it in with my hands. I think I should have used gloves. I'm a genius after the fact. I used a different hand for each yarn so they don't even match. It should wear off in a day or two. I hope.
And now for the non-knitting news.
Look what I got!
Everybody this is Sammie, short for Samantha; Sammie, this is everybody. Sammie comes from questionable parentage, and was taken from mommy too soon. We found this out when the vet came (yes, he makes house calls) to give her her shots yesterday. We also found out she was not Sammy.
Sammie napping on my knitting, Sammie napping with DD#2, Sammie outside, Sammie playing with her sock baby. And this is only a small sampling of the pictures we've taken. It took me two years to talk Hubby into getting Max, but one look at this little fuzzball, and the first thing he says is, "Can we keep her?" She had been given to DD#1's boyfriend, and we were babysitting. BF's mom didn't want him to keep the pup so Sammie stayed. Max is not happy, but we've been told by the vet and others that in a few weeks they'll be best buds. Here's to best buds.
The hat and scarf are fantastic. You did a great job and should wear them with pride. As for your expression in the pic, you look like you're about to crack up or make a one-liner, so it's all good.
I'll be trying my hand at the Kool-Aid dying in a few weeks. I'm so looking forward to it.
And I lurve the puppy. She's so cute and adorable. But why aren't there more Max pix?

Love the hat and scarf combo...you look ready to brave the crowds that pop up in Walmart with no warning!
My pal Lolly (lollygirl.com) and I are going to have a kool-aid dyeing party here soon...You will have to give me some pointers on how you got the colors so vibrant! :)
and I keep showing my Boyo that puppy in hopes the cuteness coming through the screen will mesmerize him into letting me have one!! SO CUTE! Looks softer than angora.
Take care!!
