This is my favorite part of knitting. Perusing patterns, digging through yarn, touching, imagining, mixing, matching, picking up, tossing out, discovering. (Wow, where did this come from? And, This yarn would be perfect for...) After chosing pattern and yarn, do I really like the stitch? The fit? The length? What should I change to make it mine? Swatch and admire. Then the cast on- should I use knit on or long tail? Needles click, excitement mounts. With a lot of determination, a little found time, a few missed dinners and frozen pizzas, a WIP becomes a FO.
My gold medal sweater left me craving cabedly goodness. With days still cool and nights down right cold, I cast on with wooly, rich, hot chocolately yarn, enjoying every twist and stitch.
Then it suddenly turned 80 degrees. Into the UFO pile with high hopes of picking it back up in the fall. With nights still nippy, a cotton sweater is more in order. Maybe I’ll
finish this one before the muggy days of August hit. But then, I’m such
a light weight I’ll still need it. I'm already dreaming of the beach and ocean breezes. With flecks of every color, this will be muchly worn.
(We finally had a much needed rainy day, hence the dark picture.)
Next I started a baby sweater. Recognize the pattern? It’s a new one!
That is the Mason Dixon kimono baby sweater pattern. that pattern ROCKS. :)
