Sometimes I just loose control. Sometimes food does more than call me, it pesters me, stalks me, hounds me relentlessly. It’s not my fault. I can’t help myself. Now my fingers are orange, my lips are orange, and if I dared to smile, my teeth would be orange, too. What does this have to do with knitting you ask? Not much other than it being one more knitting deterrent. I always have a hard time deciding what to knit when the temperature soars to 90 degrees. I know I can stockpile for winter, but some days I’m just more grasshopper than ant. I’ve played with yarn, swatched a little, looked through mags and books. And I did non-knitting things that one cannot do while knitting- like eat a bag of Cheetos. Then I started this:
The top picture is the Ribby Shell from ChicKnits. The yarn is Prism Bon Bon. No, I did not pay full price for this gorgeous yarn. Not even half price. If I told you what I payed, I'd be both envied and hated by all the stashing world. I can't handle negative vibes so my lips are zipped. Olive is the color of the season I hear, so I must get olive bottoms to go with my future tank. Then you can envy me for my chic style (I say as I sit here in cut off stained khakis).
The bottom picture is from Hand Knit Holidays. I’m omitting the pocket and working an intarsia star from The Knitting Stitch Bible. It’s not exactly sweater weather anymore, so I’m knitting 9- 12 month sizes for Little Life. They can still be given to new moms for winter.
And I finished something. Actually I finished it a couple of weeks ago, hung it at the back of the laundry room to dry, and forgot all about it. Doh. When I dyed yarn last month, I redyed a skein of LB Fisherman's Wool. (The first time I didn't have enough Kool-Aid.) I knit the bag from the outside of the skein so the darkest strawberry red would be at the bottom.
How's your stash? I thought mine was coming along just fine. I have plenty to knit with even though I'm sadly lacking in some areas. Apparently sock yarn is one of them. Purling Pirate has enough sock yarn to knit 99 pair! I don't know that many feet. Nanc has enough for at least 68 pair. Still respectable. Me? I have enough for 23 pair.
Scary, isn't it? If I decided to knit a pair a week, I'd run out of yarn by November 16th. Ooo. Gives me shudders.
Only enough for 23 pairs of socks? Heh. I think I have....two balls of sock yarn. Yarn specifically for socks. I don't actually like them. It's cotton & self striping and I like Elann's Peruvian Wool for socks more.
Cheetos, eh? I've been on a Fritos binge. It's wreaking havoc with my vow to tone up this summer. I'm fluffing up.

23 pairs of socks ain't too shabby. In fact, if you think more about *wearing* all the hand knit socks it's a better number than friggin' 68 pairs! It's funny - I have no problem imagining knitting up all those socks, but the idea of having that many hand knit socks in my wardrobe? Eep! Sends me into convulsions!
Wow, the colors and yarn for your Ribby Shell are lovely! I promise not to pester you about price and your 'source', but simply admire it. Stunning; I can't wait to see how it turns out.
And I like how your felted bag came out. What pattern is that? Hmmmm... I have a couple skeins of Fisherman's Wool and a whole lotta Kool-Aid...

Clearly you need more sock yarn!

When you decide to knit a pair of socks, at least you'll have a choice.
